Frequently Asked Questions

Electrical Services Information

Do you install surge protectors?

Yes, indeed. We do install surge protection and highly recommend this small safety device which will protect your small appliances, electronic equipment and interior wiring in the walls by stopping unforeseen surges by Mother Nature and from your local power companies. A surge protector is installed at your outside panel location. We can also install surge protection on your telephone/data lines and cable TV to stop surges that can come in on these lines.

How can I increase my family’s safety from potential fire hazards in the home?

Potential fire hazards can be prevented by calling a professional electrician for a whole house inspection. Home Safety is one of the most important aspects of your home’s electrical system. We will check the brains of the system, your inside panel and outside panel for correct wiring, proper grounding system, smoke detectors, outlets and light fixtures. This should be completed on a yearly basis.

Do you offer scheduled monthly or yearly inspections for my home or office?

A-Lumination Electric does offer a yearly inspection called our Energy Armor Home Protection Plan. We evaluate your complete electrical system. This will give you peace of mind that your dwelling is safe. This is done on a yearly basis.

What locations do you serve?

We service all of Central Florida, with over 70 zip codes including Orlando, Winter Park, College Park, Lake Mary, and Windermere.

What are your hours?

Regular service hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Saturday and Sunday by appointment.

Do you charge by the hour?

No. A-Lumination Electric does not charge by the hour. We feel this is a false price gauge. Instead, we charge by the job. You will know the cost before we start and whether it takes one hour or 5 hours, the price still remains the same.

What is a GFI?

The term GFI means Ground Fault Interrupter. This device is required to be installed within 6 feet of water, and on the exterior of a house for personal protection from shock and equipment.

When is it time to call an electrician?

You should call an electrician if you experience flickering of lights on a constant basis, if you have circuit breakers that are not resetting, or when any electrical devices do not work.

Why do my breakers trip when I’m running two different appliances?

Circuit breakers are designed to trip when you overload the circuit or when wiring is incorrect. Also, if an appliance or piece of equipment has gone bad. This is a good time to call A-Lumination Electric.
